Beautiful, thinly-sliced, long flakes presented in the Mac neat, orderly rows that we have come to expect from Mac Baren flakes. Medium brown in color with light specs throughout, the tin aroma is earthy, nutty, and slightly sweet. The moisture level is just right and requires no drying time. Go ahead and fold and stuff, gently break up a bit, or rub it out fully; look forward to a cool and consistent smoke with no bite. As a longtime-smoker of burley tobacco - Edgeworth and its various later incarnations, Mac Baren London Blend, C&D Burleys, etc. - I was somewhat taken aback by how good and how interesting, and how DIFFERENT Mac Baren HH Burley Flake smoked, tasted, and smelled: rich, sweetish, and sort of cigar-like. I am unable to determine whether this is due to the sourcing of the component tobaccos, blending magic, or flavoring (I detect none). Whatever the reason, HH Burley Flake is not your typical burley or predominantly burley tobacco; it is unique and definitely worth exploring. Smokes dry. Strength and taste approach the medium level, and the nic hit is slightly less. An all-day smoke. Recommended without reservation.
