Description

The Kabuto is one of Kiribi's most popular and unique offerings. Its defining feature is perhaps its iconic cap toggle, shaped to resemble the wings of a samurai's "kabuto" battle helm.

This model is available in the Tsuchime Silver finish. A traditional artisanal technique, Tsuchime or "hammered" finishes were commonly used to elevate the presentations of traditional Japanese kiserus and cigarette cases years ago. Tsuchime finishes are created by hammering metal sheets one pattern at a time, producing unique textures depending on the size, depth, or pitch of the hammered pattern.

Is it art? An Heirloom To Pass Down, or Best Lighter?

Posted by Nick Bailey on Jun 18th 2026

I have IM Old Boy lighter, I have the Pipe Master lighter, and a Colibri Julius which has a roll br to ignite, which is neat, as well as double angled soft flame which sometimes I use for stubborn tobacco. I have a couple Zippos with the wind-proof insert that are mandatory at times being in New England smoking outside. This is my third Kiribi lighter, and by far is the lighter I reach for the most. It is solid, it has a great weight to it that is satisfying. Moving on to the elephant in the room, just look at it. You could put it on your coffee table as a conversation piece, or piece of art, it is stunning to look at. The crackling gold veins reflecting against the silver, it is stunning and is barely noticable as you run your finger across it. Opening the has the quiet click, quieter than that of a zippo, using the lift arm that makes it a breeze. It lights effortlessly, and works like a lighter should. I would make the argument that side by side looking at a Rollagas lighters, the more high end ones, and this Kiribi, I would say it looks more elegant, and for the cost, it is a bargain. This is the one I grab again and again.
