This blend rightfully gets its high acclaim. An exceptional VaPer. The perique is there in the background and will not overpower the pallet.

Hal...Where Have You Been All of My Life?

I heard via email that WCC got a few tins of this elusive blend in stock, so I thought that I’d try some and top-loaded my last order with a 100g tin. When it arrived in the mail (lightening fast shipping by WCC, BTW) curiosity got the better of me so I popped the tin open for a look-see. The look, smell and feel of HOTW seemed very familiar to me and I thought to myself, where have I seen this before? Then it struck me, Reiner Golden Flake! I just happened to have an open tin RGF in my smoke stand so I decided to do a side by side sight & smell comparison. Other than the fact that RGF is presented as one long, continuous strip of glorious tobacco and HOTW comes ready rubbed, neither my wife nor I could find any discernible difference. So I said “oh well” and proceeded to load some in a pipe for the next morning...and why not? It’s already opened. The next morning came and given my presupposition from the night before, I was not as excited about trying this new tobacco as I normally would be. I got in my truck and I performed my charring light ritual as I normally do before heading out. I was neither thinking of the pipe nor the tobacco when something struck me...this tastes nothing like RGF. Now HOTW commanded my full attention. First off, I didn’t taste the Burley in HOTW as I do in RGF, which is a good thing as I’m not a big fan of Burley. Then, about one third of the way through the bowl, HOTW washes over my senses! The flavor becomes rich and full with a satisfying baked bread sensation followed closely by a sweet note. This tobacco is exceptionally well behaved to the point where I felt I could do no wrong no matter how I smoked it.The Nic hit was steady but not overbearing and it put me in a deep, meditative state for the rest of the journey. I immediately pulled my truck to the side of the road, took out my phone and promptly ordered 3 more 100g tins from WCC! It’s that good! Hal O’ The Wynd is now in my top five rotation and I understand why it is so hard to get. Grab some if you can, you will not be disappointed.
