Co-Created with our friend Jim "Jiminks" Amash...the Sultan of Smoke! Simply Gold is a Virginia blend cased with traditional ingredients. Based on a superior Bright VA with a portion of Izmir and a bit of unflavored Golden Cavendish this blend uses turkish and casings to bring out the citrusy, lemony and grassy character of Virginia. The addition of the Izmir and casings serve to accent this decidedly virginia blend.

At Jim's suggestion a couple years back we started on the path to make a Bright Virginia based blend worthy of the name "Simply Gold". Plans were scrapped when Sutliff went away and the project was shelved for a year until I came across a Bright Virginia Ribbon that not only stood on it's own but took to blending and casing well.

On the path to Simply Gold, two other blends were born- Simply Cavendish and Jim's Golden Ticket. Similar in formula, each has it's own character with Simply Gold Ticket being a somewhat more refined version of Jim's Golden Ticket.

    As a new pipe smoker I’ve had limited exposure to straight Virginia blends . I wasn’t truly sure what to expect. Well socks blown off!!! This blend is truly delicious and surprisingly complex. You are hit with bright , sour, earthy, sweet, doughy throughout the smoke. As the bowl progresses the experience does as well. A must try.

    A very solid VA/OR. Full flavored. Relatively mild nic hit. Heavier flavor than Jim's Golden Ticket. Together, they make quite a pair to suit whatever your mood is on the particular day you reach for a VA/OR.

    Bright Virginia with a Hint of Spice

    The brights are really bright — lively, citrusy, and full of energy right from the charring light. This feels like an all-day Virginia: clean, crisp, and easygoing, yet never dull. The Izmir (Turkish) adds a clear spice note that floats on top, giving the blend a subtle incense-like quality without overwhelming the base leaf. “The tobacco lights effortlessly and burns clean, showing off Watch City’s excellent cut and moisture balance. It’s not overly dry, just perfect — ready to pack and smoke straight from the bag. As the bowl develops, the sweet, grassy Virginia stays consistent while that Izmir spice weaves in and out, offering a touch of floral sharpness that keeps the profile interesting. The overall impression is refined, sunny, and well-balanced — a gentle morning-to-evening smoke that shows how simple ingredients, handled expertly, can deliver remarkable character.
