Description

Ask three tobacconists what constitutes a "Scottish Blend" and you'll likely get five answers! Our definition is a balanced mixture of all the main tobacco varieties where no one component overpowers the other. Easier said than done. This took years to perfect. We think we nailed it with this blend of Virginia, Burley, Oriental, Perique, Latakia and Green River Black Cavendish.

    very nice

Package note of sour vegetation, mildly smoky and sugar. Tobacco is a rough cut of dark brown, black and light brown. Moisture content is great. Burns slow with a few relights. The strength is medium and nic is mild to medium. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium and mostly/very consistent, with notes of sweet smoky, lemon grassy, savory, fermented vinegary, sugar, toasted bread, spices, tart stewed dark fruit, orange peel/zest, peaty musty vegetation, sour, herbal floral, spicy, a tangy citrus background note, and a peppery retro. Virginia is leading with Cavendish, Oriental/Turkish and Latakia supporting. Perique is supporting from the rear. Room note is pleasant to tolerable, and aftertaste is great.

    Nice balance

This blend advertises itself as a balanced Scottish style mixture, and I would agree. It's nice and smooth, and nothing really dominates. I t is very well behaved in the pipe and does not bite even when pushed. My rating is based mostly on the aftertaste, which I don't really like. Just a little too sour for me.

First time with this blend. I cellared the majorly and smoked 5 bowls. I didn’t get a lot of flavor besides dirt. I hope a year helps it out

Working my way thru trying all of Watch City's blends, I finally got around to ordering Fat Bastard. This blend has everything in it and then some. How in the world this blend turned out so balanced is nothing short of a miracle. Perfect moisture level, burns cool all the way down and the flavor is consistent throughout the smoke.

    Fat Bastard

This is a Scottish blend that has a subtle sweetness and floral notes. The is also a fruity/vegetal quality that flirts with me. It is in the background and is their then gone only to reappear. This is a medium blend and can easily be an all-day smoke. I do get a tiny bit of tickle on the back of the throat from time to time, probably from the perique but it is not unpleasant or annoying. I like this tobacco and have never had other Scottish blends quite like it

    FAT BASTARD

No expert, can't find some long lost taste from childhood that I only remember from my first trip to a circus (yeah that old) or something. Just a very nice "light" English would be a good start. There is a good bit going on actually, I just can't really describe it. Very tasty/creamy even, keeps my interested without being a slap upside the head deep/dark English blend that has it's place no doubt (have some of those). I keep going back to this even though my weather has been way too warm for this time of year and I would normally think of a more Virginia based blend in hotter temps. Not sure if I would compare it to another "Scottish" I enjoy (McConnell - Scottish Cake) a bit different. This is very well balanced I guess would be a good description. Like I said, not good at this but I like it. Nice smooth easy smoke with interesting flavors, few relights burns down very well. Smoked in a Savinelli 320 ks, wide bowl seemed to work just great. Just found Watch City in the last few months and haven't purchased a bad blend yet. Very happy camper, good value and Great blends!
