Description

Ask three tobacconists what constitutes a "Scottish Blend" and you'll likely get five answers! Our definition is a balanced mixture of all the main tobacco varieties where no one component overpowers the other. Easier said than done. This took years to perfect. We think we nailed it with this blend of Virginia, Burley, Oriental, Perique, Latakia and Green River Black Cavendish.

Fat Bastard - maybe the greatest Scottish blend on earth

Posted by Brandon on Apr 16th 2026

I received a sample of this from a friend and, after smoking one bowl, proceeded to smoke inclusively this blend until I ran out. I kept telling myself, "You just ordered some Strange Magic from WCC. Maybe you don't need to immediately place another order. Plus you have LOTS of tobacco options to choose from in your cellar." But after one day without any, I did in fact, place an order. And since receiving it, I have continue to smoke mainly this. It is such a well balanced blend of so many components, and when you are smoking it, you find different highlights throughout the bowl. I know some people really like less complicated blends, or feel that throwing everything in, but the kitchen sink models things too much to let anyone component shine. But I feel like this one allows different components to sparkle like stars in the sky. For a blend with no topping, this one has some really amazing flavor notes. I get chocolate and cream and nuts and occasionally peanut butter. The room note is also outstanding; better than any Latakia blend I've ever had. I have tried other blends labeled as Scottish from many different blending houses, but this one is distinctly different from all the rest. I feel like many others have more Turkish, and rely more on other Orientals, but if THAT is what a Scottish blend is, then I prefer whatever THIS is.

Excellent pipe tobacco! I am a Va / VaPer fan, but this stuff is really good. LA is very subtle in this blend and fits perfectly creating creamy and tasty smoke. I have not tried any blend like this before. Definitely recommended!

    Desert Island Blend

Posted by James on Feb 14th 2026

Bought this on a whim along with a new White Elephant pipe. The first time I smoked it, I thought “huh, I was not aware this was an aromatic”. Tastes of chocolate and vanilla and creaminess. It’s delicious and somehow has no topping. The more I smoke it, the more it is reinforced that it is nearly a perfect blend for me. I got a pound of it after 6-7 bowls. I hope it sticks around for a long time, and I tend to cellar this one deep.

A whole goddamn meal, and I can't stop eating it.

It's hard for me to pin down everything I love about this extraordinarily well balanced blend, but it's quickly becoming my 'go-to'. It's a well behaved smoke that requires minimal relights. Nic hit to a more seasoned smoker than myself would be on the medium side, but it was enough to get me nice and drowsy - but thankfully not queasy. Very mellow sweetness, earthy, strongly 'spicy' and a little peppery. Nutty like a Brazilnut and produces a velvety smoke, burns comparatively cool. Incidental notes of vanilla, maybe even a little hint of nutmeg - Something vaguely like salted butter happens about a third of the way through my bowl. The occasional bit of vinegary funk pops out but mostly just makes things interesting. Leaves an inexplicably sweet taste in the mouth like letting a tiny sliver of salted caramel dissolve. So yeah. Great stuff, and one of the few blends out there that tempt me fill a second bowl. Smoked four bowls so far - out of a standard size MBSD meerschaum, an MM Cobb, a Peterson Pipe of the Year (2000) and a Ser Jacopo Cymatium

    Fat Bastard Weighs In

I love a good Scottish Blend and this one satisfied me. It's complexity was well balanced and despite its rich body one could smoke a lot of it - which is what I plan on doing!!

    very nice

Posted by Jasson Bryant on Mar 14th 2023

Package note of sour vegetation, mildly smoky and sugar. Tobacco is a rough cut of dark brown, black and light brown. Moisture content is great. Burns slow with a few relights. The strength is medium and nic is mild to medium. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium and mostly/very consistent, with notes of sweet smoky, lemon grassy, savory, fermented vinegary, sugar, toasted bread, spices, tart stewed dark fruit, orange peel/zest, peaty musty vegetation, sour, herbal floral, spicy, a tangy citrus background note, and a peppery retro. Virginia is leading with Cavendish, Oriental/Turkish and Latakia supporting. Perique is supporting from the rear. Room note is pleasant to tolerable, and aftertaste is great.

    Nice balance

Posted by Joefrom NoVa on Feb 26th 2023

This blend advertises itself as a balanced Scottish style mixture, and I would agree. It's nice and smooth, and nothing really dominates. I t is very well behaved in the pipe and does not bite even when pushed. My rating is based mostly on the aftertaste, which I don't really like. Just a little too sour for me.

First time with this blend. I cellared the majorly and smoked 5 bowls. I didn’t get a lot of flavor besides dirt. I hope a year helps it out

    Liked it

Working my way thru trying all of Watch City's blends, I finally got around to ordering Fat Bastard. This blend has everything in it and then some. How in the world this blend turned out so balanced is nothing short of a miracle. Perfect moisture level, burns cool all the way down and the flavor is consistent throughout the smoke.

This is a Scottish blend that has a subtle sweetness and floral notes. The is also a fruity/vegetal quality that flirts with me. It is in the background and is their then gone only to reappear. This is a medium blend and can easily be an all-day smoke. I do get a tiny bit of tickle on the back of the throat from time to time, probably from the perique but it is not unpleasant or annoying. I like this tobacco and have never had other Scottish blends quite like it
