Ripe Red Virginias in ribbon form cured and aged via traditional methods...simple, right?
Upon opening found the aroma absolutely enticing! Seemed a bit dry upon inspection but once I started smoking it I found it burned very well. The sweetness grabs you from the hop and doesn't let go. I found this to be a wonderful blend for a nice warm morning.
The name Simply Red is exactly what this blend is, in a very good way. The bag note is very tame but don't let that fool you. This blend is packed with plenty of flavor that continues throughout the bowl, tanginess, woody and spicy flavors. It's a bit on the dry side but doesn't need and humidification. I packed it a bit tighter than I normally do and it smoked perfect. No sign of bite but I have a slow cadence. Plenty of smoke and flavor right down to the bottom of the bowl. The nic hit is between mild and medium but I have a higher tolerance for that so take that for what it's worth. If you're a red virginia smoker, Simply Red will definitely find a place in your rotation! Simply Red is simply fantastic!
sweet plummy smooth virginnys sbsolute nirvana.
I smoked it from a narrow cobb bowl and a wider, shallower stanwell featherweight. The flavor and sweetness are there but it will bite. Nurse it and its very good. I think this may be a good blender for some that need a little kick.
First received this blend in a trade from a pipe smoker who turned out to be a real jackass. Well, I don’t talk to that guy anymore but my love affair with Simply Red has made it all worth it. Get it when you can guys - I’ll be buying it on opening day when I can!
Package note of dark fruit, sweet bread and spices. Tobacco is a ribbon cut of reddish light, medium and dark browns. Moisture content is great. Burns moderate with few relights. The strength is mild in the beginning, finishing at medium. Nic is mild to medium. No flavoring detected. Taste is medium and moderately consistent, with notes of spices, bready, dried hay, orange peel, sugar, wood, floral, tangy sweet, mild citrus, mild grass, fermented vegetation, earthy, mildly savory, acidic, a ripe dark sour fruit background note, and a mildly peppery, almost smooth retro. Room note is pleasant to tolerable, and aftertaste is great.
I found this tobacco to be very pleasant with an excellent flavor & room note. I highly recommend this blend.
Whether you smoke it straight or use it for a home blend, it is a must have. I always look forward to the releases.
Simply Delicious! A pleasantly sweet and mild blend. I like a naturally sweet tobacco and watch city has several to my liking (loving).
I love smoking this blend. The one note that comes out when the bag is opened is the vinegar smell. I smoke this straight or use it to make a personal blend. I always look forward to this coming out and wish it was in the WCC regular rotation of blends.
