Watch City's Simply DFK (Bulk by the Ounce)

I purchased a couple of ounces of this blend to give it a try. I was afraid that it would be too earthy and not very smooth. That was not the case. Yes there was the earthy flavor but it was not over the top, and like other reviewers, I detected a subtle sweetness. It is a very good, rich tasting blend. I've ordered more of it to have a good supply on hand.

I don't know of a tastier DFK. It's rich and smoky and you won't forget you smoked it all day long, and that's a good thing. You aren't going to sneak up on anyone while smoking it. The Virginias smooth out any rough edges and add a layer of complexity that will keep you coming back for more. It's another masterpiece from Ernie and the gang.

Wow this stuff is amazing. I’m still too new to have the ability to isolate and describe the exact flavors. All I can say is this is packed with rich and dark flavor. Incredibly savory but also enough sweetness to form a perfect balance. It’s exactly the way Ernie described ahead of making it available. Additionally I brought it to my pipe club where every single person said “Wow, this is incredible “. Absolutely will be looking for future releases.

This blend is excellent with just the right amount of sweetness from the Virginias to make it very smooth for a dark fired blend. Kind of reminds me of cobblestone brick Kentucky plug but better. Wish I would’ve ordered 8ozs instead of 3. Looking forward to another release

This one is smoky, faintly semi-sweet, earthy, savory, and just a little floral, with some really nice coffee and dark chocolate notes showing up along the way. What surprised me most is how settled and integrated it tastes already. It has that deep, mature character you normally expect from something with a fair amount of age on it rather than a fresh bulk blend. It is very reminiscent of a certain discontinued blend that many of us DFK folks love and cherish, and I don't say that lightly. It has that same kind of rich, dark-fired satisfaction without becoming harsh, one-dimensional, or overwhelmingly smoky. There is enough natural sweetness and complexity to keep me interested all the way down the bowl. My first bowl was loose bag shakings with a cup of coffee, and it was an absolute joy. If anything, that made the blend even more impressive because I wasn't exactly cherry-picking perfect pieces / flakes for the first impression. I've had a few bowls since then and enjoy it more and more each time! For me, this is one worthy of going a little crazy on while it's still around. If you're a fan of rich, dark-fired blends, I would absolutely grab enough to smoke now and enough to put away. I have a feeling some age will only make it better. It will be dearly missed once it runs out.

Best DFK I've had in ages. Pity the fool who hasn't tried it yet.

It’s a solid blend, pretty stout in both flavor and nicotine to me which isn’t a bad thing. I will be purchasing again the next time I pick up some other stuff. Highly recommend if you like stronger blends.
