Description

Flake #558 (The measured distance in miles between Watch City Cigar and Richmond, VA, plus a couple extra miles for good measure!) This is another of our "Crumble Flakes". (A mixture of cut leaf with some whole leaf added, pressed and sliced thick). Similiar to our "Old Dominion" this rich, dark flake substitutes a rich stoved Virginia for the Matured Virginia. A wonderfully complex flake with a naturally sweet aftertaste is the result. Just a bit less Perique than Old Dominion.

    Ahab's Comfort

This is a Superior Blend and very very smooth. I smoked Penzance for many years and since the market changed and we can not get it on a regular basis. The Gentlemen at Watch city cigars turned me on to this Amazing blend. It's easy to pack because it comes in a Crumble cake. It is a very smooth on the palate and very flavorable . It has a medium nicotine hit and very tasty . You cant go wrong with this blend if your A English lover and even if your a Aromatic smoker you will love this blend . I smoked it in a meerchaum pipe . To get the full flavor out of the tobacco. A 5 star blend and easy all day smoke . Thank you will be my go to tobacco now.

    Flake #558 - Excellent

Posted by Dan H. on Jun 25th 2019

It's very, very good. The stoved VAs are at the forefront for me. There is a lot of tangy, ripe, dark fruit. The perique likely contributes to that, and while I don't find it spicy in flavor, I do notice a bit of a spicy tingle on the lips and mouth. The Kentucky adds a bit of body and stoutness, but I don't get much of that BBQ smokiness. It's very well-blended. I bet this ages an absolute dream. Reccommended for fans of: McClelland VAs, H&H Anniversary Kake, some of the Pease VaPers. Strength I'd peg at medium for both nicotine and flavor. YMMV, of course

    Big fan!

This is a nice thick cut flake. I rub it out and smoke in a group 4. I am a big fan of Va/Per and this is a great blend. The Virginia has nice citrus and bread flavor. The perique add fig and spice to the blend. The dark fired Kentucky is really an accent to the blend and takes a back seat adding some body and nuttiness. Great blend!

    Flake #558

Watch City Flake #558: The Penzance of VaPers. Okay – so it’s not a VaPer – 558 has Kentucky in it. But 558 nearly looks and crumbles exactly like Penzance, and it certainly smokes and tastes like something from the realm of Penzance -- so talk about a Luxury Blend – Damn, this stuff is good! And I mean 558 is fantastically, indescribably good. if Watch City blends were ever to catch on, they will all but disappear from the face of the Earth à la Penzance (only to be found on ebay, at a 400% markup). Don’t say nobody ever told you so about Watch City Flake #558 – if you miss this stuff, shame on you. Abundantly recommended. 5-stars.
